What We Do
We Launch Video Games. Period.
Driving public relations strategy and outreach, specifically with the video game enthusiast press, is Maverick PR’s core specialty. And, nobody does it better.
Maverick PR principals Matt Frary and Brandon Smith have spent a combined 28 years internally at development studios and publishing houses managing product launches for major companies such as Atari, Vivendi/Sierra Games, Cavedog and Humongous Entertainment.
MavPR focuses only on video games. Our expertise includes developing and managing strategic PR launches working with the video game enthusiast press as well as community development, management and outreach.
Print and Online Media Relations
The bread-and-butter of Maverick PR is our enthusiast media outreach. We offer some of the deepest expertise available in this segment, with more than 25 years of combined experience directly managing relationships and working productively with the video game press.
Maverick PR’s gaming media reach extends from print to online, tier 1 to tier 3 and beyond; to broadcast and online podcasters; to some of the latest media/community developments, such as blogs and hardcore, fan-driven content sites and wikis.
Our extensive product experience includes work on everything from children’s specialty products to hardcore shooters and RPGs to major film-based licensed games; from E to Teen to Mature titles across all consoles, handhelds and personal computer.
Our leadership team has worked with enthusiast media on some of the biggest launches and franchises in video games, such as Enter the Matrix, Neverwinter Nights, the Unreal franchise, Driver, Scarface: The World is Yours, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon as well as Humongous Entertainment’s Backyard Sports, Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt and much more.
Along the way, we’ve also driven global PR initiatives for a number of very popular but more hardcore titles, such as World in Conflict, Total Annihilation, D&D Online, Magic the Gathering, Gothic, and more.
Community Development and Support
MavPR principals have been strategically managing and developing outreach efforts to online communities virtually since their inception more than a decade ago.
Today, online communities are becoming an ever important part of the public relations process that simply cannot be overlooked. Unfortunately, many traditional PR programs cut out these important – and core – activities due to time constraints or lack of interest in so-called “smaller” outlets.
While the importance of these fan-driven sites and smaller community-focused news outlets can vary by title, platform and consumer audience, online communities are here to stay and will only see their influence increase in the years to come.
